Product Information

Unived Beta-Alanine supplement supports muscle capacity and fights muscle fatigue to benefit athletic performance.

Beta-Alanine is a naturally occurring, non-essential amino acid which increases Carnosine concentrations in the muscles. Supplementing Beta-Alanine has been shown to increase Carnosine levels in muscles. Carnosine plays a huge role in high-intensity exercise by acting as an intracellular buffer against accumulating hydrogen ions (H+) that are known to cause a decline in muscle pH. This process subsequently leads to a faster onset of fatigue and reduces your ability to perform at a higher intensity for longer.

Supplementing with beta-alanine will support muscle health, muscle work capacity, and perceived time-to-exhaustion in anaerobic exercise that lasts 1-4 minutes and aerobic exercise that lasts longer. Four weeks of beta-alanine supplementation (4–6 g daily) significantly augments muscle carnosine concentrations, thereby acting as an intracellular pH buffer. Beta-alanine supplementation currently appears to be safe in healthy populations at recommended doses

Key Benefits

  • Enhances muscle carnosine levels.
  • Improves high-intensity exercise performance.
  • Enhancing intracellular pH buffering.
  • Beta-alanine attenuates neuromuscular fatigue.
  • Beta-alanine may act as an antioxidant.
  • Increase resistance training performance and training volume.

Sports scientists and coaches design an athlete’s diet to meet energy and nutrient requirements to ensure that optimal training can be maintained, and competitive performance can be maximized. There is a common belief that, in conjunction with a well-designed training program and diet, the appropriate ingestion of additional dietary supplements can further enhance training and exercise performance [1]. One such supplement that has attracted interest to improve strength and performance is beta-alanine. This growing interest stems from research that identifies b-alanine as the rate-limiting precursor to carnosine (b-alanyl-L-histidine) which, among other roles, is thought to be an important physiological buffer because it can readily accept protons during contraction-induced acidosis [1]. Carnosine is found naturally in meat products, particularly deep water species of fish, but supplementation with b-alanine seems to be necessary to achieve the active daily dose required to significantly elevate intramuscular carnosine [1]. Skeletal muscle is unable to synthesize the carnosine precursors L-histidine, and b-alanine, so the concentration of intracellular carnosine is largely dependent on the uptake of these amino acids from the bloodstream. It has been well established that chronic b-alanine supplementation can significantly increase muscle carnosine concentration by up to 80% [2]. Augmented muscle carnosine concentration may improve athletic performance in exercise tasks that accrue a high level of muscle acidosis [1]. In support of this affirmation, a number of studies have evaluated the potential ergogenic effects of b-alanine supplementation on a variety of sport-specific performance protocols in the athletic population [1].

Co-ingestion of beta-alanine with sodium bicarbonate or creatine has modest additive ergogenic benefits; ingestion of beta-alanine as part of a multi-ingredient pre-workout product may be effective if the supplementation period is sufficient to increase carnosine levels and the product is taken for at least 4 weeks. Unived Beta-Alanine delivers 4 grams of Beta-Alanine.

Mode of Action:

During exercise, glucose is broken down and lactate is produced. This produces hydrogen ions (H+), making your muscles more acidic. This muscle acidity blocks glucose breakdown and reduces your muscle’s ability to contract, thus causing fatigue. Upon ingestion, Beta-alanine, the precursor to carnosine, immediately gets converted to carnosine and saturates muscles with carnosine which acts as an intracellular buffer against the decline in muscle pH during intense exercise and as such reduces the acidity in muscles and reduces the onset of fatigue such as that you can increase your exercise capacity and the amount of time until exhaustion [2].

  • Improves high-intensity exercise performance by increasing muscle carnosine content, thereby enhancing intracellular proton buffering [2].
  • Beta-alanine may improve exercise duration during tasks requiring a greater contribution from aerobic energy pathways [2].
  • Enhances high-intensity exercise lasting over 60 s, with greater effects on open end exercise bouts, such as time-to-exhaustion tasks [2].
  • Increase calcium sensitivity and activate Calcium receptors thereby increasing Calcium release into the sarcoplasmic reticulum in muscles and thereby decreasing fatigue [1].
  • Beta-alanine supplementation, and thereby augmented carnosine content, may act as an antioxidant, because carnosine has been linked to a role as an antioxidant because of its ability to interfere with peroxidation reactions [1].

What is the suggested use of Unived Beta-alanine?

Adults take 1 scoop (4g) before exercise with 200ml of water or on a non-acidic beverage of your choice. On non-training days consume 1 serving between meals. Do not exceed recommended dosage or suggested use.

Can I combine it with other performance-boosting supplements?

Yes. You can consume it along with supplements like creatine monohydrate to boost performance and for added benefits. Studies have shown that beta-alanine consumption with creatine monohydrate boosts performance and endurance.

Is Unived Beta-alanine safe for consumption?

Beta-alanine is considered to be a safe and effective supplement to boost exercise performance. But, increased dosage above recommended levels may cause a tingling sensation in the skin. To date, there is no evidence to support that this tingling is harmful in any way. However, it is highly recommended to stick to the suggested dosage and do not over exceed it.
